The Bodysuit Trend

Celebs can be pretty fickle, especially when it comes to fashion. (Granted, that’s not exactly breaking news or anything.) So we were slightly surprised at how many stars have been favoring bodysuits for the better part of a year now. Sure, you can simply just repurpose your swimsuit for dry land, but the new batch of bodysuits are designed to be seen. No longer just your basic old-school varieties with little adornment or fanfare, we’re talking designer offerings complete with lace-up detailing and plunging necklines. It’s pretty amazing since sometimes you can’t even tell they’re bodysuits, which is probably why we’ve grown accustomed to (sometimes) spotting them both on and off the red carpet. See how to wear bodysuits like a celebrity in the pictures above. Although the word and idea of a bodysuit might conjure thoughts of everything from dance leotards or ice skating costumes to 80’s and 90’s flashbacks, they’ve come a very (very) long way and both the fast fashion (Zara and Topshop) and designer worlds (Balmain, Nina Ricci and Thakoon) are creating a slew of options worthy of a sartorial debut. Often sexy with intriguing fabrications there’s a style for everyone to love. For something simple yet seductive, Intermix provides a long-sleeve but belly button low neckline with lace up detail, Alix combines two of this season’s hottest trends (bare shoulders and flared sleeves) while Nina Ricci and David Koma utilize high-fashion design aspects like 3D sleeves made of calf hair, all over embellishments and bodices full of fringe into their designs. And while they all would be great with a pair of high-waisted jeans, they all work seamlessly with everything from cigarette trousers and suede shorts to culottes, overalls and midi skirts. So allow us to change your mind with our selects of favorite bodysuits that we have made available for sale in the pictures below and let us know which one you’d be most likely to wear this season.
